Arrival at the Boat
When we arrive at the historic Post Bridge, we go through the boarding procedures to ensure a safe and smooth embarkation. Here, we also distribute life jackets to all participants and make sure they are properly fitted before boarding. The boarding is done via comfortable steps with handrails to hold onto, and our captain is happy to assist if needed to make it as easy and safe as possible for everyone.
Route
We depart from Post Bridge and head north towards Notviken, our first stop. From there, we turn southeast, glide past Bomarsundsholmen, and reach Prästötornet. The journey continues south towards the newly built Prästö Bridge, where we enjoy a fantastic view of parts of the main fortress. After a loop under the bridge, we set course back to Post Bridge. The estimated duration of the boat tour from bridge to bridge is about 40 minutes, and the trip is conducted at a leisurely pace with our boat cruising at 6 knots – perfect for taking in both nature and history.
Notviken
As we approach and turn into Notviken, we are greeted by a magnificent view of the impressive Notviken Tower. The tower stands proudly as a historic sentinel, framed by the mighty cliffs to the west, whose shadows enhance the dramatic landscape. Here, the beauty of nature and the echoes of history come together in a view that truly impresses.
Prästötornet
Part of the Russian Bomarsund fortress complex, it was built in 1842 as one of twelve planned defense towers. During the Crimean War in 1854, the tower was attacked by British and French forces and surrendered after intense fighting. The tower was later blown up with six tons of gunpowder, and today only grass-covered ruins remain. However, the site offers a beautiful view and a reminder of the echoes of history.
Free entry to the center
The Visitor Center offers our guests free entry upon presentation of a "ticket" from the tour. This gives you the opportunity to explore the center and delve deeper into the history at no additional cost.
